Background:
In this webinar, Dr. Jin Park, Research Fellow at the Busan Development Institute, will discuss “Advancing Busan as a Leading Digital Finance Hub,” sharing policy insights and strategies to position Busan as a competitive digital finance center. Prof. Chaehyun Kim, Assistant Professor at Pukyong National University, will present “From Port to Platform: The Future of Digital Finance in Busan,” offering an academic perspective on the city’s evolution from its traditional maritime strengths toward a modern digital finance platform. The session will explore key policy directions and academic viewpoints on scaling up digital finance in Busan and its ambitions to become a leading global financial hub.
Speakers:
Dr Jin Park is a Research Fellow at the Busan Development Institute (BDI), where he works in the Department of Economic and Industrial Research. His research focuses on digital finance and maritime finance, contributing to policy development aimed at positioning Busan as a leading financial hub in Korea. He also collaborates with the Busan Finance Center to support the city’s financial industry initiatives. Dr. Park holds a Ph.D. in Finance and has published various research on corporate finance such as M&As, publicly listed companies, and holding company structures.
Chaehyun Kim currently serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Digital Finance at Pukyong National University, Busan, South Korea. He received his Ph.D. in Engineering from the Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology (UNIST). His research interests include capital markets, digital finance, and corporate governance. Prior to joining Pukyong National University, he served as a Research Fellow at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) and as an Associate Research Fellow at the Korea Exchange (KRX).
Euna Kim is Head of the IR Team at the Busan Finance Center, leading international outreach and investor relations initiatives. She focuses on promoting Busan’s development as a global financial hub, with emphasis on digital and maritime finance.
